FAQ

How many districts does Ebbtide’s Los Angeles map use?
The Steam page states Los Angeles is divided into fifteen districts with Hold, Crisis, and Lost states. The fifteen individual district names are not listed on the Steam page as of 2026-10-22.
Can you pause the Ebbtide operations map?
Yes. The Steam page says you can pause or run the operations map at up to 4x speed while commanding the city under siege.
Are all zombie hordes visible on the Ebbtide map?
No. Official copy says zombie hordes are only visible on the map when they are within your line of sight, though you receive warnings before attacks.

Ebbtide, the zombie survival RTS by ProjectAlive, treats the Los Angeles operations map as the battlefield itself: zoom into a street for real-time fighting, zoom out while combat continues, and every casualty or destroyed building persists on that same map with no separate missions or hidden auto-resolves. Early story chapters focus on fighting and withdrawing toward the Port of LA across part of the metro area.

For how this layer fits tanks, helicopters, and direct control, see the gameplay overview. Release timing and platforms are summarized on the Ebbtide FAQ and release date guide.

What does the Ebbtide operations map do?

On the Steam store page, ProjectAlive describes The Map Is the Battlefield: scrolling into any street on the operations map becomes the live battlefield without loading screens, and scrolling away does not stop the fight. There are no standalone missions and no hidden auto-resolves—losses and kills write back to the map state.

The developer’s October 16, 2026 post on ProjectAliveDev on X was the first public showcase of this operations map, framing the prologue and chapter one as a fighting withdrawal toward the Port of LA across a portion of the Los Angeles metro (“Sorry, Anaheim” in that post’s wording).

How do the fifteen districts work in Ebbtide?

Official Steam copy places the war from the Hollywood Hills to the Port of LA and divides Los Angeles into fifteen districts that can slide from Hold to Crisis to Lost. The page adds that you cannot save everyone and must decide who to pull out first.

Logistics and evacuation tie directly to district control; see supply and logistics and world campaign and the Ark for what you carry out of LA.

Which forces can you order on the Ebbtide map?

Steam lists command over National Guard, LAPD, and LA County Sheriff formations with hold, delay, and withdraw orders, plus Marines from Camp Pendleton. You can dispatch truck and helicopter convoys to move supplies, troops, or refugees and rescue cut-off units and survivors.

The October 16 developer footage described three command lanes on the map: naval and air support (ordering ships, calling fighters and following their flight), helicopters (commanding an Apache from the map then diving down to follow it), and ground forces (inspecting hordes and issuing movement orders to armored units). That same post noted main guns stop firing when ammunition is exhausted and resupply is required—details covered further under supply and logistics and ground forces.

What can you see before a zombie attack on the map?

Steam states zombie hordes appear on the operations map only within your line of sight, while still giving warnings before attacks so you can reroute, retreat, or call fire support. The coordinated horde behavior behind those attacks is described on The Nexus hive mind page.

The developer wrote on October 16, 2026 that work continued on more operations and encounters, landmarks, reducing load when switching between map and battlefield, and keeping close-up detail at large zoom ranges—all subject to change before release.

Forward bases on the map connect to FOB building and base defense. Fixed-wing and carrier strikes extend into fire support and naval units.
